Welcome to Dimensions Midwifery
Dimensions Midwifery was created in 1988 as a joint physician/midwife obstetric practice aimed at decreasing the high infant mortality rate in the State of Maryland. Since then the nurse-midwifery practice has grown to a staff of 11 nurse-midwives with over 170 years of combined experience--the largest practice in Maryland.
Together, the nurse-midwives have delivered over 20,000 babies with a stellar 8% cesarean section rate in 2008 – 75% lower than the national average. 9 out of 10 of our clients desiring a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) are successful at having a vaginal birth.
Dimensions Midwifery sees clients at our office in Lanham, MD and births take place at Prince George’s Hospital Center. In 2006, Prince George’s Hospital Center opened the first in-hospital birth center in Maryland and we are able to offer our clients births in a home-like atmosphere. Water birth is an option in the birth center as well.
